The funeral carriages collection was inaugurated in 1970 by Cristabal Torra, the then manager of the Municipal Funeral Service.

It was displayed in the basement of the Sancho d'Avila funeral home until June 2012 when it was transferred to the new custom built premises within Montjuic Cemetery.

It is a unique collection of historic Funeral Carriages from the end of the 18th Century. For more information visit the website.

This museum is only open in the mornings on weekend days from 10h to 14h.

Once you have finished in the museum you will be given on your way out, a map of the historic Montjuic cemetery with several walking routes. I highly recommend taking a stroll round the tree lined cemetery as the tombs are beautiful tributes to prominent persons. Note that this is an active cemetery with mourners so be silent and respectful when strolling around.
