About Ametlla De Mar To Ampolla Coastal Walk

Views: 407. Updated: Oct 11, 2021 by: Barcelona Travel Hacks

This is a spectacularly beautiful linear costal walk of 17Km starting from L'Ametlla de Mar RENFE station and ending at l'Ampolla-El Perella-Deltebre RENFE Station on the regional train network, south of Tarragona. The train trip takes approx. 2 hours from Barcelona.

The route passes via many small coves and beaches that are unspoilt by human activities, following the GR92 Mediterranean coastal trail which is marked periodically by white and red paint stripes on the tree trunks, rocks and in the towns. Keep an eye out for these.

Allow 6-9 hours to complete the route depending on how much time is spent swimming. Note that in between the two towns there is little to no civilisation and all the beaches are without lifeguards nor beach bars so take at least 3 litres of water per person and be vigilant when swimming.

About La Ronda coastal trail

The GR92, Gran Recorrido 92, also known as La Ronda is a coastal path that runs along the Mediterranean coast of Spain. The section down the coast of Catalonia is 583Km long.

On the Costa Brava, it starts at Portbou, goes around Cap de Creus, through the Aiguamolls de l'Emporda Natural Park, over the Montgri Massif and Les Gavarres Massif, until reaching Lloret de Mar. From there the trail goes up through Montnegre-El Corredor Natural Park towards Santa Coloma de Gramenet, and crosses the River Besos and Collserola Mountains.

It dips back down to the sea at Garraf County and continues along the coast until Tarragona, before going inland again at Ampolla. Finally, it crosses the River Ebre at Amposta and continues until reaching Ulldecona, on the border between Catalonia and Valencia.
