About Taga Summit from Ribes de Freser

Taga Summit can be reached as a circular 17km MEDIUM or MEDIUM-HARD mountain hike starting and ending at Ribes de Freser in the El Ripollès area of the Pyrenees mountains.

Taga is a summit at an altitude of 2035 metres altitude above sea level with Ribes de Freser being 899 metres above sea level so the total elevation gain along this route is 1157 metres which earns this route a MEDUIM-HARD classification.

From RENFE Ribes de Freser walk towards the centre of the town parallel to the river. We turn off at the end of the tree lined boulevard and start heading up entering the forest and beginning an uphill ascent.

The uphill climb for this walk takes us through cattle grazing hills and is a continuous hard uphill push via the Serrat de Conivella ridgeline to reach the summit. Once at the summit we have spectacular 360 degree panoramic views of the Spanish Pyrenees mountains from the Taga summit cross monument.

This route should only be attempted by people with a MEDIUM level of physical fitness and time management is needed to ensure arrival at the station before the last train back to Barcelona.

I completed the Taga summit route from Ribes de Freser in 6 hours as an experienced mountain hiker.
