La Molina is Located in the Alp area of the Cerdanya county and together with Masella forms the Alp 2500 resort. la Molina has 71 kilometers of skiable runs distributed over 68 slopes. The resort has slopes for all levels, for adults and children. La Molina also offers a range of activities for non-skiers such as snow shoe routes, Segway on snow and scenic cable car rides.

La Molina also hosts international events such as the Alpine Skiing World Cup (2008), the Snowboard World Championship (2011) or the Disabled Alpine Skiing World Championships (2013). Spain was also bidding to host the 2030 winter Olympics but has since withdrawn this application.

La Molina is a village in the mountains with many hotels, hostels and refugi's (Mountain huts).

La Molina operated the first ski lift in Spain, opening on 28 February 1943 and Spain's first ski school.

Snow shoeing is a laid back, safe and inexpensive recreational activity to enjoy the beautiful scenic winter landscape of the Pyrenees.

For this activity you can use the Cadí-Moixeró Telecabina cable car from La Molina village which goes up to the La Tosa upper station where you can walk up about 1 kilometer to the Niu de l'Aliga refugi, the highest mountain hut in the Catalan Pyrenees. Niu de l'Aliga refugi serves snacks, drinks and warm soups.

From Niu de l'Aliga you can wander round the plateau summit and enjoy the spectacular snowy mountain views. before returning to the cable car upper station to take the scenic ride back down to the village.

To practice this sport, you can rent snow shoes (raquetas de nieve) and optional ski poles (bastones). This route can also be done in ordinary hiking boots with crampons but I recommend the snow shoe option for maximum fun.

Renting Snow shoes and ski poles should cost around 15 Euros per person per day.

If visiting La Molina Ski Resort for multiple days there are Hotels, Hostels and Refugi accommodation options that can be booked via the bookings website.

• Train + bus: The Rodalies R3 line from Barcelona serves la Molina Renfe station. From La Molina Renfe train station there is an internal bus (bus interno) to cover the 5 kilometre interconnection to the ski village/resort. Train fare to La Molina is 12 Euros (24 Euros return). The bus interno to the ski resort costs 2 Euros each way.
• By Car: Take the C16 motorway passing Berga and at Riu de Cerdanya take the C-162 to Alp. At Alp take the GV-4082 to La Molina ski resort. Or use C17 and N-260 to Ribes de Freser after Toses take the GI-400 to La Molina ski resort. Both routes will take 2.5 to 3 hours by car.

For anyone visiting La Molina for skiing, La Molina website offers a variety of combined public transport tickets that also include forfeit passes for all the ski chair lifts.

The Cadí-Moixeró Telecabina cable car costs 16 Euros for a return trip.
