About Tamarita Gardens

Originally land owned by the Craywinkel family that was acquired at the beginning of the 20th century by the industrialist and cotton merchant Llorenç Mata i Pons. The gardens and manor house were abandoned at the end of the civil war and eventually became the property of the city of Barcelona in 1993.

The gardens were renovated and opened to the public in 1995. These gardens are hidden gem within the city and a great place to escape the centre of town to read a book by one of the fountains.

Visiting Tamarita Gardens

At the centre of the Gardens is the former manor house of the cotton merchant and the building today is the Blanquerna building of the Universitat Ramon Llull. While not open to the public, the building can still be admired from outside.
