Visit Vic this December for Catalonia’s top medieval fair with 300+ artisan stalls, live shows, and family-friendly events in the historic town center
About Vic Medieval Winter Fair and Market
Every year during the December bank holiday weekend, from Saturday 6th to Monday 8th December 2025, Vic transforms into a spectacular medieval town. Just an hour from Barcelona, this historic Catalan town invites visitors to step back in time and experience one of the region’s most beloved winter events: the Vic Medieval Fair and Winter Market.
With over 300 artisan stalls lining the cobbled streets of the old town, the fair is a paradise for foodies and craft lovers. Discover handmade jewellery, natural cosmetics, medieval clothing, and local delicacies like butifarra (Vic’s signature Catalan sausage), cheeses, pastries, and traditional sweets.
Families will love the immersive entertainment, from falconry shows and knight reenactments to musical rats, fire archery, and highwire performances. Kids can explore medieval playgrounds, while adults enjoy live music, dance, and historical exhibitions scattered throughout the town centre.
Whether you're planning a festive day trip from Barcelona or a weekend escape into Catalonia’s cultural heart, the Vic Medieval Fair offers something for everyone—history, food, fun, and unforgettable memories.
Vic’s medieval legacy isn’t just about fairs and falconry — The town was once a global hub for leather tanning. The town is currently restoring one of its historic tanneries into a museum, a project that’s been decades in the making. A Personal Note from Barcelona Travel Hacks
I’ve lived in Barcelona for over 20 years, and the Vic Medieval Fair is one of those events I keep coming back to—it’s that special. I’ve visited three times, and each trip has offered something new: the atmosphere, the performances, the food, and the sheer charm of Vic’s historic centre.
What makes it truly memorable is the way the town blends its rich cultural heritage with festive magic. The falconry show, held in a riverside park on the edge of town, is absolutely unmissable—watching these majestic birds up close is a highlight every time. And the arts and crafts display in front of the MEV (Museu Episcopal de Vic) is a must-see, with handmade pieces that feel like they belong in another century.
One of my favorite moments happens around 5pm, when the market stalls in the grand square begin to clear. Suddenly, a towering Christmas tree is revealed in the centre, surrounded by glowing lights, bars, and restaurants. It’s the perfect spot to warm up with a drink, snap festive photos, and soak in the holiday spirit as night falls over the medieval town.
If you’re looking for a day trip that combines history, culture, and celebration, Vic during the fair is one of the best choices you can make.
