There is so much more to Barcelona than the city itself. There are great day or weekend trips to the Catalan countryside and coastal areas that are full of overwhelming natural beauty and cultural activities to be enjoyed.

On this page I have listed what to do and see outside of Barcelona city and within 1 to 2 hours via private transport, i.e a car. While the main focus of content is accessible for everyone via public transport, there are some places that are so breathtakingly beautiful that they deserve to be included.

This list covers remote villages and hiking trails in Catalunya and where applicable I have linked each place to nearby attractions when thinking about planning weekend trip or holidaying outside of the capital.
