Museums in Barcelona capital and Catalonia
Museums in Barcelona capital, popular museums in principle Catalan towns & museums that are not on the typical tourist websites
Museums in Barcelona capital & Catalonia
Barcelona is famous for it's beaches, modernism architecture, nightlife, sunny streets, great parks and pedestrinised tree lined boulevards (Ramblas). The city also boasts a large array of museums which are perfect for those occasional rainy day activities in Barcelona or to spend time immersed in culture.
On this page I have listed museums in Barcelona city that are traditional types of museums or museum historic houses that are open for tourist visits. Catalonia also has some great museum castles to visit that have history exhibitions. Also included is any attraction that is educational or a Barcelona exhibition.
I have included the famous museums in Barcelona that I am not going to rank them by the best museums in Barcelona because this is highly subjective depending on personal interests. Personally for me, must see museums in Barcelona are typically inside a historic building, medieval or otherwise architecturally interesting. The top museums in Barcelona are also spacious and filled with a wide variety of exhibits and have multimedia displays and good explanations.
The museums of Barcelona that are run by Barcelona city council and are usually free on the first Sunday of the month. Some privately run museums have also subscribed to the free Sundays scheme. Museums outside of the city also have free days as well so check them out. For more information check out the Free Museums Page.
