Visiting Adahuesca Medieval Village
When staying overnight in Adahuesca it is likely that you will not have time to explore the village. However When I stayed in the village, I slept so well that I woke up at 6am and did some sunrise exploring.
Highlights of Adhuesca Village are:
- Mirador Adahuesca: A viewpoint looking towards the Sierra y Cañones de Guara Natural Park mountains that was once the site of Castillo de los Santos. This was a religious-military complex constructed in the 11th century as a lookout tower for the control of Alquézar castle.
Plaza San Pedro 4, 22147 Adahuesca
- Ermita de Nuestra Señora de Treviño: 13th century church dedicated to the Virgen is a late Romanesque ashlar construction with archivolts and a covered porch with large windows. The side chapels of the church were also added in later periods. The apse is inside the semicircle with a polygonal shape. The corbels supported by sculpted statues are very numerous. On the west facade there is a Gothic portico and a battlement. Medieval remains of murals with the image of the apostles were found in the church. The remains of a cemetery near the church show the possible presence of a populated area to which the church of Nuestra Señora de Treviño could have belonged.

- Casa Loscertales: Is an ancestral home with a defensive character and takes its name from the Certero family who were mountain shepherds. Because of their good aim with a slingshot, they helped Pedro I in the battle of Alcoraz against the Moors before he regained Huesca. It is a large building composed of 3 floors, the lower one made of stone, like a plinth, and the two upper ones made of brick. On the ground floor, two doors open, one in a semi-circular arch, in the right corner of the building, and the other in the center, at the front, probably with a rear opening. On the first floor there are 3 fronted balconies, between 2 of which there is a niche with a religious image. The third floor is traversed by a gallery of indented rooms.
Plaza de La villa, 22147 Adahuesca
- Plaza de las Santas: is the main square of the village and is surronded by historic buildings and Iglesia De San Pedro Apóstol.
