About Camí de la Ronda DAY 2 in Costa Brava

This three day walking (and swimming!) activity that traverses what I think is the most beautiful part of the GR-92, Camí de la Ronda Hiking trail between Palamós and Begur on the Costa Brava. The route passes via many small coves and beaches as well as the most stunning white fishing villages such as S'Alaguer, Callella de Palafrugell, llafranc, Tamariu, Aiguablava, Fornells, Sa Tuna and Aigiafreda before turning inland to finish at Begur.

This blog covers day two from Callella de Palafrugell to Aiguablava/Fornells, a distance of 11km. Overnight accommodation can be an apartment, hotel or camping.

Starting in Callella de Palafrugell we find the emotional strength to leave paradise and pick up the GR-92 coastal trail round a headland almost immediately arriving at another whitewashed stunning town called Llafranc with its beautiful beach. Following the town beach front around to the marina, just before the marina guard house there are steps leading up. From here the route is via the road to Faro de Sant Sebastian, a light house with restaurant.

After the light house is a castle and poblet iberic - Iberian medieval settlement remains. Sant Sebastian castle is open to the public and visits to the roof are permitted where there are fantastic views of the coastline and inland fields and mountains. Leaving the castle the path enters a pine forest and drifts inland a bit before taking a right into a trail down a river valley to Cala Padrosa. This is a beautiful small cove with a Stoney beach. I recommend swimming here.

On the left side of the stony beach (when looking at the sea) is a path leading up the rocks into a pine forest trail along the coast to another whitewashed village called Tamariu. The trail leaves this village leading inland into pine forests to get to Aigua blava. At Aigua blava we find another stunning cove beach with restaurants behind.
