The magic fountains are the centre piece of a terraced public square with many fountains and waterfalls that direct the attention from Aveninda de la Reina Maria Cristina towards the Palau Nacional(MNAC) at the top.
Magic Fountain: A large Fountain in Plaza de Carles Buigas and Plaza de Josep Puig i Cadafalch that was built for the 1929 International Exhibition and remodelled for the 1992 Olympics. The magic fountain is known for it's light and water display to music. This is a free show that anyone can attend without ticket but it does get very busy. Times of the light and water display can be found in the visiting section of theis page.
Venetian Towers: are a pair of towers built to look like the towers in saint Marks Square(Venice). They mark the enterance to Aveninda de la Reina Maria Cristina which was a giant exhibition space built for the 1929 International Exposition. The towers are 47m high with a 7.2 metres square cross-section and have been refurbished multiple times. They stand today as monuments in Plaza Espana. They are not open to the public, However the council does hold open days once a year for visits inside.
La Fira 1, Montjuic: Are the buildings along Aveninda de la Reina Maria Cristina which are large exhibition halls that were built in 1929 for the International Exhibition. IT consists of seven large buildings, each containing exhibition halls. La Fira 1 has a total of 153,000 square metres of floor space.

The magic fountains are free to visit any time of the day or night. The fountains and water falls are not always on and do not have a fixed time table but the waterfalls of MNAC on the upper terrace are usually on in the evening. THe magic fountain light and music show has set times which generally follow the below times.
7th January to 28th February: No light and music shows - anual maintenance
1st March to 31st March, Thursday to Saturday: 20:00h to 21:00h
1st April to 31st May, Thursday to Saturday: 21:00h to 22:00h
1st June to 30th September, Wednesday to Sunday: 21:30h to 22:30h
1st October to 31st October, Thursday to Saturday: 21:00h to 22:00h
1st November to 6th JanuaryThursday to Saturday: 20:00h to 21:00h
Some sunday's from 11:00g to 15:00h you may find the waterfalls and magic fountains on but of course without the lights and music.
You do not need a ticket or book in advance to see the fountains. it is a public space with no gates or barriers. Except on New years eve where the space is restricted access for the fireworks display.
