The Olympic and Sports Museum, Museo Olímpico y del Deporte Joan Antoni Samaranch, houses exhibits about the 1992 Barcelona Olympic Games.

Museo Olímpico y del Deporte Joan Antoni Samaranch is a newer museum opened in Barcelona on Montjuïc mountain next to the Olympic Stadium. The museum is built into the side of the mountain and has a floor underground.

The Olympic and Sports Museum History

The Olympic and Sports Museum was located in Montjuïc Olympic Stadium but moved to a custom building next to the Olympic Satdium in 2007.

In 2010 the Olympic and Sports Museum was renamed in honour of Juan Antonio Samaranch, a Spanish Citizen and president of the International Olympic Committee from 1980 to 2001. Juan Antonio was a key figure during the 1992 Barcelona Summer Olympics.

Visiting Olympic and Sports Museum in Barcelona

The museum is dedicated to the 1992 Olympics and has a vast collection of artefacts from the Olympics and vintage sports equipment displayed in a very interactive space that tells the stories about many of Spain's sporting champions, especially those from the 1992 Olympics.

Allow one to two hours to fully explore this Museum.

This Museum is engaging for children because of the interactive displays, video games based learning and tactile displays.
