About Montjuic Modern Botanical Gardens And Botanical Pavilion

Montjuic Botanical Gardens offers visitors a different walk in each season of the year as they observe vegetation from the five regions in the world with a Mediterranean-type climate.

The purpose of the Jardin Botanic is to conserve and disseminate collections of Mediterranean climate plants from around the world. Among its main objectives are: the conservation and documentation of the natural heritage of Catalonia; to promote botanical and naturalist culture; and to promote knowledge of and respect for nature.

Montjuic Botanical Garden opening hours

November, December, January: 10:00h to 17:00h.

February, March: 10:00h to 18:00h.

April, May, September, October: 10:00h to 19:00h.

June, July, August: 10:00h to 20:00h.

Closed: January 1, May 1, June 24 and December 25.


Free Admission: The first Sunday of each month all day, Sunday's throughout the year from 15h.

February 12 and 13 (Saint Eulalia); May 18 (International Museum Day), and September 24 (La Merce)


This is a great place to take a book and wander round finding a quiet spot to relax and read, once you have finished exploring all the different types of plants and flowers.

Accessibility, mobility & Clothing for Montjuic Botanical Gardens

Montjuic Botanical garden visits can be accessed step free with all paths being connected via ramps between the terraced levels of the garden.

No other access restrictions are in force.

There is bicycle anchorage outside the entrance to Montjuic Botanical gardens.

I would recommend taking a bottle of water because the gardens are large and there is no cafeteria inside the enclosure.
