About Montjuïc Gardens
Montjuïc Gardens are a network of green spaces on Montjuïc hill in Barcelona, offering shaded paths, fountains, and panoramic viewpoints. This page focuses on the gardens easily accessible from the TMB Funicular de Montjuïc upper station.
Originally woodland and grazing land, Montjuïc was transformed for the 1929 International Exposition. The name “Montjuïc” comes from its medieval Jewish cemetery—hence “Jewish Mountain.” Today, it’s one of the best places to relax in Barcelona, with gardens dating from both the 1929 Expo and the 1992 Olympics.
