About Montjuic Gardens:
The gardens of Montjuic were built for the 1929 International Exposition. The site was origionally wodland and grazing land and contained a medieval Jewish cemetery which is where Mount Jewish or Montjuic derives it's name. The lower gardens are from the 1929 International Exposition with the higher gardens being modern additions.

This garden starts from the side of Palau Nacional (Museum of Catalan Art) and extends round the mountain towards to greek theatre. The gardens are from the 1929 Intrnational Exhibition and contain beutiful water fountains, stone paths and range of mediteranean trees and plants.
Jardines del Teatro Griego
These gardens which began life as a rose garden were also created for the 1929 International Exhibition. An old quarry was used to construct an amphitheatre that now hosts many of the Barcelona Grec Festival performances every summer. These gardens have good views of the city.
Jardins de Joan Brossa
What was the Montjuic Amusement Park for over 30 years is now a large green space. These gardens are a more modern creation and have childrens play areas and picnic spots with excellent views of Barcelona.
Jardins del Mirador
These gardens give excelent views facing the port ares of the city and have fountains and waterfalls. The steep levels are divided by stone steps. The gardens are more modern dating from 1969.
Jardins de Mossen Cinto Verdaguer
These gardens, like many in Montjuic are situated in a former stone quarry. The gardens were inaugurated 22 June 1970 and give excellent views facing the city and have fountains and waterfalls. The gentle grass slopes have blooming plants that are in flower in spring.
